Dr. Stanley YIP, CEO of NanRise spoke on 20 September 2022 at the “Regional Stakeholder Workshop of Low-Carbon Buildings and Constructions in the Greater Bay Area of China” organised by the German Energy Agency (dena) and the ICLEI East Asia Secretariat (ICLEI East Asia). Building and construction decarbonization is indispensable for achieving carbon neutrality. To support the realization of “a zero-emission, efficient, and resilient buildings and construction sector”, the Global Alliance for Buildings and Construction (GlobalABC) set up a Global Roadmap and a Regional Roadmap for Asia to support a common language and vision for the complete decarbonization of building. Following up on this process, the German Energy Agency (dena), commissioned by the Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Climate Action (BMWK), plans to initiate and develop a Regional Roadmap for Buildings and Construction in the Greater Bay Area (GBA) of China.

Dr. Yip discussed the vision of Hong Kong to achieve carbon neutral by 2050 and also the recent growth in focus by the real estate and bu8lding industries in Hong Kong on ESG disclosure. He proposed an initiative to integrate the green finance and carbon credit markets ib the GBA to include Hong Kong and the ASEAN.
